  1. Service Project September 29, 2012 Ivanhoe, Virginia Created by: Jenny Faust http://www.ironmountainhorsecamp.com/images/contactironmountainhorsecampva.jpg

  2. What we did • As a part of the freshman leadership program, the Residential Leadership Community, I had an amazing opportunity to experience the small rural town of Ivanhoe, Virginia. As a community, we came together doing small chore tasks like painting fences, cleaning out houses, and feeding cattle. Not only were we able to help the citizens of Ivanhoe, we were able to gain much knowledge about their culture, ways of life, and so much more. http://thumbs.trulia-cdn.com/pictures/thumbs_3/ps.47/e/5/3/b/picture-uh=eda087a851522588c3fadc838829722a-ps=e53baa1270295a6acd154e2ab21cd14e-2457-Pope-Rd-Ivanhoe-VA-24350.jpg

  3. The citizens of Ivanhoe were one of the friendliest people I have ever met. They invited 70 college students into their homes without hesitation, and told us amazing stories about their lives growing up in Ivanhoe. At the end of the night, they treated us to good food, and taught all of us how to flatfoot. http://www.ourstate.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Flatfoot-dancing.jpg

  4. Overall, the day was a great experience. I met a lot of new people, from the residents of Ivanhoe to my peers in my leadership class whom I had never had a change to meet. I’d like to thank the Residential Leadership Community for allowing me to partake in this amazing opportunity.
