History • Easter bunny- The rabbit was a symbol of abundant new life in ancient times, and reminds us of spring and new life. • Domestic rabbits live for an average of 5-10 years. • The domestic rabbit is a descendant of the wild European rabbit. Rabbits were introduced to Britain by the Romans who kept them in fenced off warrens and harvested their meat and fur. • The earliest known records of rabbits in Britain occurred during the 12th Century.

Breeds • Dutch- The front of the face, body, and the back feet are white; the rest is colored. • Netherlands Dwarf- The ears are short for the head. • Cinnamon- Rust or cinnamon color with grey on back and grey on belly. Rust colored spots inside hind legs are butterfly marked on nose and eye rings. • Chinchilla- its fined bone.

  4. Breeds • Checkered giant- Long, hare-like body. Long, hare-like body. • Florida white- pure white rabbit- Pure white. Rounded body. • Californian- White, with black nose, ears, feet and tail. Rounded body, medium build, and short smooth coat. • American Fuzzy Lop- Variety of coat colors Compact muscular body, dense, coarse coat, and of course, ears folded over to slightly below the jaw.

Fun Facts • Rabbits are similar to rodents they have incisor teeth that continually grow. • There are 50 different species of rabbits. • Rabbits are plant eaters they have a high reproductive. • Rabbits are most active at dawn and dusk and nap during the day. • They have a fast growth development.
