  1. Ornament design • 4” x 4” x 4” maximum • At least 3” in one direction • Must have a hole or hanger • Create .ipt part • Change color, decal .bmp pictures, emboss, etc. • Create nsb.idw orthographic showing largest dimensions. Print out and attach to worksheet. • Use iproperties to find mass, volume, & surface area. • Answer questions on front and back of worksheet. • Put rendered .bmp picture of your ornament with a solid color background on my flash drive.

  2. Xmas Ornament Checklist: • Sketch of ornament on worksheet? • Mass, volume, surface area numbers from Inventor? • Calculations of box volume using orthographic? • Rest of worksheet finished, front and back? • 3-view orthographic printed and stapled to worksheet (check best fit)? • Length, width and height dimensioned? • Ornament save copy as .bmp on flash drive with 1 color background?

  3. Geometry calculations • A block of wood measures 2”x4”x5” and weighs 3 pounds. • What is the surface area of the block? • What is the volume of the block? • If a gallon of paint covers 600 sq. in., how many gallons will be needed to paint 200 blocks? • How much would it cost to ship the 200 blocks if shipping costs $.50 per pound?

  4. Surface Area Calculations In order to calculate the surface area (SA) of a rectangular prism, the area (A) of the three different faces must be known. SA = 2(wd + wh + dh) SA = 2(wd + wh + dh) SA = 2 x 44.125 in2 SA = 88.25 in2
