ELECTIVES
  • See page 9 of Course Selection Guide for choices.
  • Languages: Spanish, French, Latin, Chinese
  • Classes are 1 full year or 2 semesters (1/2 year):
    • Drawing (SEM) + Painting (SEM) = 1 elective
    • Intro to Business (YR) = 1 elective
  • Need to choose alternate(except band, chorus, orchestra)
  • Course description by department in book (check for prerequisites)
  • Make choice Feb. 13-25 (during LA class)

  • Level of difficulty (not a measure of intelligence)
  • Level 1 is most difficult.
  • Homework/studying estimates: - Level 1 approximately 4 hours/week

- Level 2 approximately 3 hours/week

- Level 3 approximately 2 hours/week

  • All levels can lead to college.
  • Teachers recommend based on grades, test scores and work ethic (how hard you work).
  • Can be different for each class
  • Can change from year to year

Waivers
  • Teachers will recommend you for the highest rank level in which you will be successful (B or higher).
  • If you and your parents disagree you can waive up or down 1 level by signing form.
  • This is a commitment! Your schedule will not be changed if you are struggling (tutors, extra help, or repeat class if you fail).

  • Request courses in LA classes Feb. 13-25.
  • Select desired classes including electives, rank levels, and alternates.
  • Have HAC password and signed waivers ready.

*You will only be able to access HAC to request courses during the school day.

*You will automatically be scheduled for teacher recommended classes unless you submit a signed waiver.
