  10. Basic Layout • 9”x12” manila paper • Draw a vertical and horizontal axis • Cross through the center. • From center, mark nine ½”points • On each axis. • Connect the points on each axis • Choose diamond, star, or square

Painting Layout • Number Sections 1-9. • Paint the pure hue in Section 5. • Have the lightest tint at Section 1 and the darkest shade at Section 9 OR the darkest shade at Section 1 and the lightest tint at Section 9. • Accuracy of brushwork is more demanding in smaller area for each section. • Value transition must be even and consistent.
