  6. II. PARENTS’ LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE OF THE INTERNET • 8.What is your level of internet knowledge? The number of the parents saying “I don’t know anything about internet.” and saying “I know a lot.” is the same.

  7. 9.Where does your internet knowledge derive from and to what extent:(Please circle a number from 1 to 5, where 1=not at all and 5= a lot) Most people in the target group say they learnt the use of internet from special seminars or lessons. 12 of them learnt by using themselves. 10 of them say they didn’t learn from their children. Most of them didn’t learn from friends. We can conclude that parents like learning the internet by themselves or by means of courses. They don’t like getting help from their children or friends.

We must try hard to raise the awareness of public against internet dangers.

It shows a tendency to the addiction of internet.

EXTENT TO WHICH PARENTS ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE DANGERS THEIR CHILDREN FACE WHEN USING THE INTERNET • 14.What is the age of your child that uses the internet the most? …… years old (in total 40 parents have 116 children)98 of them are under 18 years old & 18 of them are older than 18. We can see that most of the users are teenagers.

In this chart, we see 27 children use internet every day. We can conclude children who have internet connection at home use the internet more or less than 3 hours a day. The other numbers refer to the children who go to the cafes.

(Please circle one of the following options) • □In his/her own room (18) • □In your room (4) • □In common rooms (e.g. living room) (16) 18 children use the computer in his/her own room, that means their parents trust them. 16 of them have the computer in common rooms, that means every member of the family can see what he/she is doing in the internet. Only 4 children have the computer in his/her parents room, that means the eyes of parents are always on their children. They strictly check what their children are doing in the internet and also they are afraid of the internet dangers for their children.

  23. IN CONCLUSION; Most parents have had internet connection at home for the last 5 years. That’s why they aren’t aware of the internet dangers very much. We are planning to open a course for parents about the dangers of the internet in the near future.
