  2. School Rules: • Be Respectful • Be Responsible • Be Safe

  3. Rewards: • Follow the rules, have lots of fun. • Students who follow the rules will have a blast in and out of class. • Fun such as: Fun Friday, reward movies, Kindergarten Buddies, alternate activities, special art projects, assemblies, field trips, parties, etc.

  4. Consequences: • Each teacher uses different consequences in their own classroom. • Loss of fun 

  5. Weekly Communications: • Folders sent home weekly • Inside: • Class work • Homework • Tests & Quizzes • Monthly Calendars • Teacher Web • E-mail & Telephone

  6. Class Schedule: • 8:30 Math • 10:00 Spelling, Roots, or writing • 10:30 Recess • 10:42 Language Arts • 11:30 PE (Tues., Thurs.) • 12:20 Lunch • 1:00 Science (Wed.) or Social Studies (Tues., Thurs. & Friday) • 2:45 Home **Remember every Monday is minimum day** • 1 hour of computers & 20 minutes of library each week • Band is a pull out program done Tues., Thurs. & Fridays.

  7. Oral Presentations: • Oral book reports & current events will be given every other month. Students will take turns on giving either a book report or current event report based on their student number within their classroom. • Book Reports: MUST BE AN AR BOOK in their ZPD level that they have read in the past two months and are able to take an AR Test on. • Current Event: The current event must come from a news article and the article must be brought in on a poster. • On the months where book reports/current events aren’t being given, your child will be required to memorize, recite, and act out a poem. • DUE DATES: August, October, December, February, April: Your child will be responsible to memorize & recite a poem. The other school months a book report/current event will be due. • Students will also be required to present other written reports such as their President Report and State Fair report.

  10. Science(Wednesday’s) - Taught in 6 week rotations • Subjects taught: • Matter (Mrs. Caliri) • Systems of Living Things (Ms. Coulter) • Water (Mr. Bolton) • Solar System and Weather (your child’s homeroom teacher)

Physical Education(Tues., Thurs., & Friday) • Tuesdays we run the mile • Thursdays we participate in sports activities • Wear your tennis shoes on Tues., Thurs. & Friday!!! • Notes from either a parent or doctor are required for non-participation on PE days. • Physical Fitness Test is given in May.

  12. Technology • Computer Lab once a week • Internet • Research monitored by teacher • Internet Consent paper completed by parent • Hand out went home regarding “no tolerance” for Cyber Bullying at home or at school.

Curriculum: Projects • Explorer Project • American Revolution Time Line • Revolutionary War Circle Graph • President Report • State Fair Report • Bi-Monthly Oral Book Reports OR • Bi-Monthly Current Event Reports • Bi-Monthly Poems • Element Man • Science Fair Project (optional) • Other projects may arise throughout the year, however, you will be notified by your child’s teacher of that project, the date in which it’s due, and any other important information.

  14. Band: • Pull out program during math • Once a week, at the end of the year twice a week

  15. Homework: • Daily – Monday thru Thursday • Approx. 50-60 minutes, excluding reading or special projects • Binder Reminder • Completed daily in class • All homework listed • Students’ responsibility to write their homework down.

Late & Absent Work: • Late Work • Late work is marked down • No work, no credit • Absent work is accepted • Absent Work • Students must make up absent work. • Independent Studies • Completed only if your child will be missing 5 or more days of class. • Must be submitted to the office at least 5 days prior to scheduled absences.

  17. Volunteers: • Room Parents • Help with classroom functions, parties, and activities. • Help with 5th grade end of the year activities. • Classroom & At Home Volunteers • Listen to students read • Work with a small group • Prepare projects • File • Run Copies • Watch Dogs • Dads of Great Students • Commit one full day to school wide volunteering
