  2. The naginata • The Naginata is a sword used by the Sohei warrior monks. • The handle of the Naginata is about twice the length of the blade and is made out of wood.

  3. The Katana • The Katana is a sword that was used by the ancient Samurai warriors. • The katana blade is razor sharp and takes nearly a year to make. • The Katana sword is blessed by the sword maker while being made. • The Katana is considered a spiritual weapon by the Japanese.

  4. The tanto • The Tanto is an ancient Japanese dagger. And regularly used by the Kunoichi. • The Tanto is used as a short range weapon. • The Tanto is a short blade attached to a highly decorated handle of wood. • Tanto daggers come in single and double blades.

  5. Nunchaku • The Nunchaku is often referred to as the Nunchuck. • The Nunchaku began as a farming tool to grind rice. • Nunchackus are spun quickly from hand to hand, around the body, and through the air. • The spinning of the Nunchaku is served as an distraction.

  6. Nunchaku [continued] • The Nunchaku is two small pieces of stick or metal attached by a metal chain or yarn Famers would first use the Nunchaku for self defense.

  7. THE JAPANESE LONGBOW The Japanese Longbow is about 7 feet long. • The Japanese Longbow is used by Japanese warriors.

  8. The sai and the kama • The Sai and the Kama are both traditional weapons from Okinawa. • The Sai is considered as a spiritual weapon.

  9. The ninja star and the kunai • The Kunai is not primarily used as a killing device but as a tactical accessory. *The Kunai and ninja stars are mostly used for diverting or disabling an enemy’s Sword-based defense.

  10. The kozuka handle • The Kozuka handle was a tool that was usually attached to a small knife that is in a side pocket for protection. • Kozuka blades were also used as general tool knives in various situations. • The Kozuka handle is attached to a small knife.

  11. The bolo • The Bolo is basically a knife that generally has a hard wood handle. • The blade of the Bolo is curved.

  12. The bokken • The Bokken is a wooden sword. • The Bokken is used in martial arts training.

  13. Using Archery weapons Longbows made by the Japanese are special. They are unique. They are usually longer than most longbows made from other countries‘. Here is a video of a longbow made by the Japanese being used.
