CORPORATE READINESS FOR ENLARGEMENT IN ROMANIA Romanian companies enthusiastic for Accession: • 97% of Romaniancompanies favour joining the EU (thehighest share in 2003 among 10 candidate countries); • 59% of the respondents are satisfied withthe accession negociations; Aquis compliance • 43% of companies have not startedpreparations • 12% have acosts estimate for compliance • Study realised by Eurochambres in the CAPE programme

Regional Attractiveness IndexCLUJ COUNTY – Business environment • Number of foreign capital companies having more than 250 employees – 2.9% of the national total – above the region’s average • Share capital of foreign investment companies subscribed within the interval 1991 - 2002 - 2.3% of the national total – above the region’s average • Unemployment rate - 9.9% - above the region’s average • Regional attractiveness Index for the business environment: 23.1 (as compared to 16.4 for the whole North-Western Region)
