  4. FLESHINGOUT YOUR FAITH What fundamentals of the faith must we practice to make it through life victoriously? What small things like blisters on toes can side-track our spiritual lives?

  5. DISCUSSION GUIDE 1. Outline the main concepts/truths in (Hebrews 12:1-4). a. We should rely on the witness (example) of the saints of old. b. Nothing should encumber our spiritual progress. c. Do not get trapped by “pet sins”.

  6. DISCUSSION GUIDE 1. Outline the main concepts/truths in (Hebrews 12:1-4). d. We must run with endurance, life is not a sprint. e. Jesus is our ultimate example. He is the goal. The finish line. f. If Jesus endures such hostility and shame we can endure anything the world throws at us.

  7. DISCUSSION GUIDE 2. How is Christ both your exemplar and enabler? Are you allowing Him to take control of your life?

  8. DISCUSSION GUIDE 3. The key word in (Heb. 12:5-8) is “son” it is used 6 times. We are adult sons and daughters who will experience discipline. Why is discipline inevitable as adult sons and daughters? A parent disciplines his children, if we are truly God’s children we will experience discipline

  10. DISCUSSION GUIDE 5. What is the result of God’s discipline according to (v. 11)? It “yields to peaceful fruit of righteousness” which enables us to win the race

  11. DISCUSSION GUIDE 6. The writer of Hebrews gives us a prescription for success like a coach, coaching his team. Outline His prescription. a. (v. 12) Strengthen areas of your life that need building up. Strengthen those in your faith community that are weak. b. (v. 13) If you have weak areas, stay on the straight path and do not veer off God’s path. c. (v. 14) Pursue peace with everyone.

(v. 15) We should work to help all experience God’s grace. f. (v. 15) No bitterness in your life or in your faith community. g. (v. 16) No immorality or worldliness in your life.

  14. DISCUSSION GUIDE 8. We live in a shaken world where things seem to crumble all around us, but a Christian can live with confidence even in a shaken world, why? How? (v. 28) Because of Christ’s sacrifice we cannot be affected by the world
