  2. It’s a girl! Juliette Magill Kinzie Gordon was born on Halloween of 1860 to Nellie and William Gordon. She had 5 siblings

  3. As A Child • She and her cousins started an organization called “The Helping Hands” they sewed clothes for the poor • NicknamedDaisy by her uncle

  4. Education • Went to many boarding schools in Virginia and New York.

  5. Married Life • Married to William Low on December 26th, 1886 • Had no children • Husband died just before • their divorce

  6. The Girl Scouts • 18 girls formed first to Girl Scout troops • Quote- “I’ve got something for the girl in Savannah and all of America and all of the world, and we’re going to start tonight,” she said to a distant friend.

  7. June 1913- National Office opened in Washington, D.C. • 1916- moved Headquarters from D.C to New York City • Served as president of GS from 1915-1920

  8. Death • Juliette Gordon Low died on January 27, 1927 at age 66 from cancer

  9. Hall of Fame • On October 28, 1979 Juliette Low was inducted into the National Woman’s Hall of Fame in Seneca, NY.

  10. 1992- Daisy was honored as one of the first Georgia Woman of Achievement
