  2. To stay in business, tobacco companies need to recruit 5,000 new smokers every day, because every day 1,000 smokers die and 4,000 smokers quit.

  4. The tobacco industry counts on young people to begin smoking. In fact, almost all current smokers today started smoking before they were 18 years old.

  5. Tobacco companies say they never target youth in their advertising campaigns. They claim their advertising is used to get current smokers to switch brands. How many of you think this is true?Why or why not?

  14. The tobacco companies have lied. For years they denied that using tobacco was harmful to health. They claim they do not target young people as customers, but they do. They try to trick kids into using tobacco so their companies will make money.
