  4. Ion Pumps • Ion pumps (also called electrogenic pumps) = are special proteins which actively transport ions

  5. Cotransport • Cotransport = the coupled passage of two materials across a membrane. • helps sucrose enter the cell.

  6. Endocytosis • Endocytosis= the import of materials to the cell by infoldings of the plasma membrane.

  7. Vesicles • Small sac of membrane with a droplet of fluid inside • Form from larger pieces of membrane
