  1. Citation Information forInternet & Book Sources When reviewing a website or book source, you must find and write down the following citation information. A citation is used within the paper (parenthetical citation) and on the works cited page.

  2. Book Sources • Depending on the type of book, a citation will have different elements. • The following are standard MLA elements. • Refer to the student example works cited page for more information.

  3. Book Sources • FIND THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION • author’s name (or editor) • title of book • city of publication • publisher • year of publication • page numbers from what you have read

  4. Internet Sources • FIND THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION: • author’s name • title of document • title of website • date of latest update • sponsoring organization • date of access • URL address • number the pages you print out • If any of the information is missing, then write that it is missing! It is relevant even if it is not there!

Works Cited: A Citation Maker • You are permitted to use a citation maker. • This is a form found on the internet that generates a citation for you. • You will still need to locate all of the information for the citation, but rather than memorize the order, citation maker will ask you to fill in a form and generate a MLA citation for you.
