  1. Needs of all living things (TSW 2) By NastyaMozolevych

  2. What needs do all living things have? • All living things need: • 1. Food • 2. Water • 3. Living space • 4. Stable internal conditions

  3. Food • All living things need food, which they use as energy. • Some organisms are autotrophs. They made their own food. • Others are hetorotrophs, they cannot make their own food. So, they eat other organisms.

  4. Water • All organisms need water to survive. With water they can: obtain chemicals from surroundings, break down food, grow, move substances within their bodies, and reproduce. • About 90% of organisms (living things) are made out of water.

  5. Living space • All living things need space to survive. They need it for it to get food, water, and find shelter. • Most of organisms need to compete for space.

  6. Stable internal conditions • All living things need stable internal conditions to survive. • An organism must be able to keep the conditions inside their bodies stable. • Homeostasis is the maintenance of stable condition. • Some need to keep internal conditions right to function. Others to have different mechanism for maintaining homeostasis.
