How do I know what classes to take? • 8th grade meetings are coming soon (April 3-7)! • Ms. Canterbury gives you an appointment • We discuss grad requirements (see www.tn.gov ) • We give you checklists to help and select classes every year
What will my schedule look like? • All freshmen have “core” academic classes to take: • Math • English • World History • Science • All freshmen take Lifetime Wellness
What class choices do I have? • Most Freshmen take a fine arts course • Fine Arts can also be an elective focus • Make sure you visit them today to see if you want to take one as yours • Fine arts: • art • vocal music • band • general music • theater
What class choices do I have? • Programs of study/Elective Focus =3 classes taken in same area (required) • Our CTE classes are part of our programs of study • Make sure you visit them today to see if you want to take one as your focus • Health Science • Automotive • Welding • Business • Criminal Justice • Agriculture • Mechatronics (new)

When will I know my schedule? • Schedules are given out about a week before school starts • Keep in mind priority is given to upperclassmen for class selection!
How do I know where to go for my classes? • Classroom numbers are on schedules • Pods are color-coded • Don’t be afraid to ask someone!
What if I didn’t get the classes I wanted or want to change my schedule? • Class change requests can be made the first 2 weeks of school only • For very specific reasons • Remember upper classmen get priority
What if I want to join a club or sport? • Club and sport sponsors are here tonight • Ask a student or teacher • It’s great to participate!
Where do I go in the mornings? To be picked up? • All students go to the cafeteria—school starts at 7:45 • Bus riders go to the front circle after school • Car riders meet rides outside the door by the gym • 2:45 dismissal
What do I do if I don’t feel comfortable at school or am intimidated by someone? • Our goal is for students to feel SAFE and like CCCHS is home • See a teacher for help • Policies are in place to help • Centerstone and STARS counseling available
What if my classes are really difficult? • After school tutoring is available—with transportation home • Talk to your teachers! • Friends can be a big help
I have a class on one side of the building and another way on the other side. How do I make it to class on time? • Students have learned to plan their locker stops to make sure they make it across campus • There is plenty of time to get place to place
I’ve heard about GPA—What is that? • Emphasis is put on GPA starting NOW!!! • GPA = points given for grades • GPA can earn the HOPE scholarship
Somebody told me there is a dress code. How do I know about something like that? • Our student handbook gives details on things like dress code • It is on our school website (school publications) and students can get a copy at the beginning of school
