Texting while driving poses significant risks, leading to numerous accidents and fatalities. In 2010, driver distraction accounted for 18% of all fatal crashes in the U.S., resulting in 3,092 deaths and 416,000 injuries, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Notably, 11% of drivers aged 18 to 20 admitted to texting during crashes. To combat this growing problem, solutions include implementing strict penalties for offenders, employing technology to disable phones while driving, and increasing public awareness about the dangers of texting behind the wheel.
