Morality in everyday life • Not just in moments of collective effervescence but everyday life. • Shame / Outrage / Road rage
Everyday rituals • Commerce • Cookout • Dinner with boyfriend/girlfriend’s parents? • Handshake
Power and rituals • Frontstage: the place for conscious performance • Backstage: the place being yourself. • Restricted code: vocabulary of particular people and things, local vocabulary • Elaborated code: abstractions not dependent on context.
