  2. Definition of Conflict A state of open, often prolonged fighting; a battle or war. A state of disharmony between incompatible or antithetical persons, ideas, or interests; a clash. In political term, conflict refers to an ongoing state of hostility between two groups of people.

  3. CONCEPT OF CONFLICT • Carries negative connotations. • Opposite of cooperation and peace, commonly associated with violence.

  4. TYPES OF CONFLICT

  5. INTRAPERSONAL CONFLICT • occurs within an individual • feelings, emotions, actions • For instance, it may occur when you have two or more choices.

  6. Intragroup conflict Conflict among members of a group. Differences in opinion. Eg: Group discussion in our class. Everyone has their own opinion and perception.

  7. Types of conflict Conflicts between two or more groups. Intergroup conflict Interorganisation conflict Conflict between two or more organisations. Eg : election International conflict Conflict between two or more nations.

  8. MICRO CONFLICT

  9. What is micro level conflict??? Focuses on the behavior and welfare of individuals, households and groups or communities. It is the study of small scale structures and processes in the society. Originates from individuals’ behavior and their interactions with their surroundings.

  10. MACRO CONFLICT

  11. What is MACRO LEVEL CONFLICT? Micro foundations may lead to macro-level conflict. Involves two or more groups, organizations. Occurs in societal level. It focuses more upon social structure, social processes amd problems, and their interrelationships.

  12. In competitive situations, the two or more parties each have mutually inconsistent goals, so that when either party tries to reach their goal it will undermine the attempts of the other to reach theirs. Therefore, competitive situations will by their nature cause conflict.

  13. LEVELS OF CONFLICT MICRO LEVEL OF CONFLICT Involve other party or parties to solve the conflict MACRO LEVEL OF CONFLICT

Issues of macro level conflict • Micro level conflict is the foundation of macro level conflict. • Some micro level conflict may eventually lead to macro level conflict. • Examples: • The battle between South Korea and North Korea • Israeli and Palestrina conflict • The drug muler (Malaysian) who is proved to be guilty and will be sentenced to death in Singapore • Conflict between Interhill company, Penan people and Sarawak Natural Resources and Environment Board.
