  2. News for this semester • Our final meeting • When: Thursday May 2nd, 2002 • Where: Jackie’s house • What: Potluck • vegetarian and vegan food preferred • We will be electing new officers and discussing final thoughts of the year

  3. Our Mission • To provide a multi-disciplinary forum for environmentally conscious students to express and apply ideas and opinions • To educate and inform other students and community members about pertinent environmental issues in Flagstaff • To do our small part to benefit the Earth

  4. Activities of SEC • Active members of SEC can participate in many activities • Weekly meetings • Monthly potlucks • Movie nights • Slide show presentations • Occasional speakers

Past Accomplishments--Fall 2001 • Events: • NAU Bike Fair • Movie Night: The Hobbit • Volunteering: • Adopt-a-Plot Clean Up • Painted NAU Recycling Bins • Mountainaire Native Plant Walk, Pulling Noxious Weeds • Campaigns: • Improve Recycling • Styrofoam Ban • Open Space on McMillan Mesa • Speakers: • Dave Sherman (AZ No Fee Coalition) • Becky Daggett (Friends of Flagstaff’s Future) • Marilyn Weissman (McMillan Mesa ConservationAlliance) • Kathy O’Hern (NAU Recycles) • Green Peace

  8. Become a member of SEC • How can you get involved? • First, get on the e-mail list by writing to our advisor, Lea Parker • Next, you will receive an e-mail from SEC about our next meeting, potluck, or event • Show up and introduce yourself to become part of the action

  9. Don’t be shy, unless you want too • As a current member, I can say that it is easy to become an active member of our group. We are all friendly and we appreciate all the help, ideas, and values that anyone can offer • Carly Long

  10. Earth Day was a success • Earth Day was on Monday April 22nd this year and our show was a great success. We had performers, speakers, and informational booths. Look for this event next around Earth Day time. And remember every day should be Earth Day.
