  2. Bone • Hard tissue that makes up the skeleton • Provides structure, support, and protection • Made of a solid network of living cells, protein fibers, and calcium • Bones come in many shapes and sizes!

  3. Joint Skull joints • Place where one bone attaches to another bone • Joints allow bones to move without damaging each other • Joints can be fully moveable, slightly moveable, or immovable. • Many joints are held together by ligaments Jaw joint Vertebral joint Hip joint

  4. Ligament Knee Joint: • Connects one bone to another bone • Made of tough connective tissue • Lots of ligaments are in joints knee cap ACL

  5. Tendon • Connects muscle to bone • Made of tough connective tissue • Example: Achille’s tendon connects calf muscle to heel bone
