  1. Grasslands Biome Research By: Zion Rogers

  2. GrasslandsGeography & Climate • Location: Grasslands are located in every continent except for Antarctica. • Description: Large rolling terrains of grasses • Soil: Deep soils and rich nutrients • Precipitation: 10 to 30 in. of rain yearly • Temperature Range: -20 degrees to -30 degrees yearly range

  3. Grasslands!!!Biodiversity • Plants: Big Bluestem Grass, Blue Grama Grass, Fleabane, Milkweed, Fleabane, Indian Grass…. • Animals: American Bald Eagle, Badger, Bob Cat, Coyote, Prairie Dog, Bison, Black Footed Ferret.

  4. Name of BiomeAdaptations Needed for Survival • Plant Adaptations: Extensive root systems prevent grazing animals from pulling roots out of the ground and soft stems enable grasses to bend in the wind. • Animals Adaptations: Animals have to blend in with the grass so they can camouflage.

  5. GrasslandsInteractions of Biotic and Abiotic • Biotic: Rabbits eating grass and giraffes eating leaves. • Abiotic: Prairie Dog living in a burrow.

  6. What is Biodiversity? • Biodiversity is the diversity among the plant and animal species in an environment.

  7. How does biodiversity contribute to the sustainability of an ecosystem? • Answer: Biodiversity ensures natural sustainability in an ecosystem. Everything in an ecosystem depends on biodiversity to live. Plants depend on the sun’s energy to live, herbivores depend on plants to live, carnivores depend on herbivores to live, and omnivores depend on plants and animals to live.
