  3. When to avoid it? • Do not use when writing an opinion based paper • When writing an analytical paper try to avoid it • Do you it all the time, only when asked for it or when the reader needs more information to better understand what is being stated in the paper

  4. Why should it be avoided? • Besides knowledge of the story • It does not angry or provide argument • Does not help prove claim • Extra fluff that could distract the reader

  5. How to decide what to cut out? Does it give more information than needed to understand the point Info To Keep • Adds support to your point • When choosing what’s in your plot summary be selective and be as short as possible

He drove on a narrow, dangerous road. Bill decided to kill himself by driving off the cliff. This shows that Bill was suicidal because of his divorce. Example B: the right amount of plot summary Bill’s decision to drive off a cliff immediately after his divorce was finalized shows that the end of his marriage made him suicidal.
