  2. The purpose of 9th grade MYP English: To provide a meaningful and relevant English education for all of our 21st century.

  3. In order to be successful, all members of the class need to contribute • As your teacher, I will: • Come to class every day on-time and prepared • Assist you when you struggle and celebrate yoursuccesses • Make the time spent during English class meaningful, • valuable, and stimulating

  4. What do students need to do to be successful? • Be thoughtful • Stay focused • Be prepared for class every day • Work collaboratively with peers and teacher • Participate during all class activities • Be curious, motivated, and find the fun in learning

  5. Are there any supplies I need for the class? • Every student needs the following: • Composition notebook • Pens and pencils • Highlighter • Flash drive to save written work • One double pocket folder or binder • Your mind, your voice and your ears

  6. How do I earn a Grade in this class? Students will be graded on the following activities- • maintaining a composition notebook and having it • during class • participating in individual, partner and small • group written and oral activities • written and oral performance on exams, projects, • and papers, and • participation in daily class discussions and • activities.

  8. Your composition book… • Page 1: Create 2 Columns…write in the title of the book you are reading and today’s date

  9. Page 3 • Divide the page in half • Top half: List 20 Jobs you fulfill in your daily life. • Bottom half: List 20 adjectives that describe you
