Explore the essentials of the food chain, starting with producers like plants and vegetables that create their own food through photosynthesis. Discover the role of consumers, including herbivores (plant eaters), carnivores (meat eaters), and omnivores (those that eat both). Learn about decomposers, such as bacteria and fungi, that break down decaying matter, completing the cycle of life. This guide provides a comprehensive overview of how energy flows through ecosystems and the interdependence of living organisms.

Group 1 The Producers Producers are the beginning of a simple food chain. Producers are plants and vegetables. This is because they produce their own food! They do this by using light energy from the Sun, carbon dioxide from the air and water from the soil to produce food. The process is called photosynthesis.
Group 2 • Consumers Animals are called consumers. This is because they cannot make their own food, so they need to consume (eat) plants and/or animals. 3-omnivores /om-nuh-vawr) Secondary consumer Tertiary consumer 1- Herbivores /hur-buh-vawr/ (primary consumer) 2- Carnivores /kahr-nuh-vawr/ Secondary consumer
1- Herbivores (primary consumer) Animals that eat ONLY PLANTS.
2- Carnivores Secondary consumer Animals that eat OTHER ANIMALS.
3-omnivores Animals and people who eat BOTH animals and plants.
The Decomposers (bacteria and fungi) which feed on decaying matter.
