  2. Determining Timeline: • Develop a Recruitment Calendar by Determining: • Posting Dates • Interview period • Approval period • Proper notification

  3. For Best Consideration Date The department must review all applications received on or before the "For Best Consideration" date. If a candidate is selected for hire who applied on or before the "For Best Consideration" date, then the department is not required to review any applications received after the "For Best Consideration" date. If the department reviews any applications received after the "For Best Consideration" date, then the department must review all applications received on or before the reviewed application.

  4. Posting Minimums • Faculty: Not be less than fifteen (15) calendar days fornational competitive recruitment, regardless of underutilization. • Staff: Not be less than five (5) calendar days for non-underutilized positions, ten (10) calendar days for underutilized positions, and fifteen (15) calendar days for contract positions. • Student: Five (5) calendar days for all positions except non-competitive positions.

  5. Definite Close Date This type of posting has a definite close date. Date may be extended by appropriate employment area for staff /student or OEO for faculty. Posting will close at Midnight of the date entered into the Definite Close date field.

  6. Open Until Filled Date This type of position will remain open until the Department Originator/Employment Area closes the posting. Certain conditions must be met before the Department Originator can close the posting.

  7. Open Until Filled/Definite Close • Faculty & Student: The department may choose Closing Date or Open Until Filled, but Open Until Filled is recommended. • Staff: Closing Date is generally used for lower-graded positions. Open Until Filled must be used for all underutilized and contract positions and is generally used for higher-graded positions.

  8. External Postings Posting dates as described in previous slides

  9. Internal Postings Internal Competitive: • Can use “For Best Consideration Date” or “Definite Close” • Used to set deadline for current department staff to submit an application • Promotional opportunity • May ask for supporting documents to be attached

  10. Internal Posting Internal Non-Competitive: • Do not need to use posting dates – only one person applying for position • May ask for supporting documents to be attached

  13. Close Remove From Web The DO has the option to Close/Remove a posting from theWeb. The DO can designate the posting as closed/removed from web for any of the following reasons:

  14. Faculty • The Chair of the Search Committee and/or Hiring Official has determined the DO should close/remove the posting. • Finalist has accepted and signed an offer letter. • Hiring proposal has been initiated. • The recruitment is determined to be unsuccessful and/or there is a lack of funding.

  15. Staff • A finalist has been determined and the “For Best Consideration” date has passed. • The hiring proposal has been initiated. • The recruitment is determined to be unsuccessful. • There is an adequate applicant pool and the “For Best Consideration” date has passed.

  16. Student • Department must notify Student Employment to change the position’s status to “Designated as Filled.” • Submit the "Request to Designate Position as Filled in UNMJobs" form found on the student employment website or at http://www.unm.edu/~wsestudy/fillform5.html

  17. NOTE: Designating a posting as closed/removed from web does not change current applicant status; however, it does prevent additional new applicants from applying to the posting. The DO can still manage the pool after the posting has been closed/removed from web. When selected, the posting will close immediately.
