  8. But did you know? History Goodwill was founded in 1902 in Boston by Iowa native Edgar J. Helms.

  9. But did you know? History Locally, our Goodwill was founded in 1965 by a collaboration between the Iowa City Kiwanis Club and the ARC of Johnson County.

  12. But did you know? We provide services for people with disabilities or other barriers to independence. Our caseload includes: ∙People with disabilities ∙ Residents of public housing ∙Veterans who are homeless ∙People in the corrections system ∙Immigrants ∙Teens in need of work

  13. But did you know? In 2006 we…. ∙Served 1,245 individuals. ∙Placed 436 individuals in community based employment. ∙Helped 262 people maintain their jobs with local businesses.

  14. But did you know? Employment Services ∙ Skills assessment ∙Employment search ∙Resume writing ∙Interview practice ∙Vocational training ∙ Supported employment ∙ Center-based work

  15. But did you know? Career Connections Provides career exploration, training and placement for high school seniors with disabilities. Partnered with 21 area high schools.

  16. But did you know? Supported Community Living Provides independent living assistance to individuals with disabilities.

  17. But did you know? Homeless Veterans Program Provides employment training and job placement for homeless veterans in the Quad Cities, Muscatine and Clinton. Partnership with Department of Veterans Affairs.

  18. But did you know? CABS Program – provides enhanced transportation services to individuals with disabilities. HUD/Ross Program – provides job placement and advancement for individuals receiving public housing assistance. STAR Program – provides job training and placement for homeless individuals. Youth Works – provides work experience and training for at-risk youth.

  19. and did you know? about our Contract Services 200 workers contributed to the completion of 91 projects for 29 area businesses. The work was completed at our Employment & Training Centers in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City.
