  1. Selecting your classes for the next school yearThis information is for students entering grades 10, 11, and 12

  2. One of the most important tasks you must complete each spring is selecting your courses for the next school year. You will be assigned a meeting time with your guidance specialist during February or March to complete this task.

  3. The most important thing to keep in mind through this process is that your guidance specialist is here to help you – if you have any questions or something you’re just not sure about, ask. We have lots of information to assist you in making the right choices. You are welcome to send us an e-mail or drop by our offices in the administration building any time throughout the school year, during tutorial, student lunch, or before and after school. 4. There is a difference between graduation requirements and requirements for college admission. Whether you plan to continue your education or pursue a career interest, it is important that you know the requirements, and that you know what your options are in order to achieve graduation from high school and success beyond. The standard criteria used to enroll students in their required and requested classes include: course prerequisites, teacher recommendations, student grades, and standardized test scores. As you make your selections be sure to check that you meet the prerequisites for each requested course. Students may make changes to their fall course requests through the last day of the current school year. Selecting your classes for the next school year deserves your serious thought and consideration, and should be a cooperative process including guidance and input from your parents. Choose courses carefully. The choices you make represent your commitment to successfully complete the schedule of classes developed.

  5. Your meeting with your guidance specialist will be scheduled during your US History or English class. We will discuss any questions you may have, review your transcript, update your 4 Year Ed Plan and assist you in developing a schedule of classes for the next school year. Parents who would like to be present for this meeting should send an e-mail request to their student’s guidance specialist. You are required to bring your signed and completed worksheet to your meeting. **Students who turn in their worksheets with parent/guardian signature will receive priority in elective choices. Additional resources This presentation will provide you with the basic information you need to make your course selections for the next year.
