  1. ITUG Conference October 24 thru 26, 2005 Presented by

  2. First to market with A Comprehensive NonStop Disaster Recovery Product Privately held 20 year old company First to market with NonStop Oracle Access

  3. Where is your business data? Spread across the enterprise and hard to access

  4. We need access to data in a common format for: New Applications andBusiness Intelligence Tools

  5. How do we normally solve this problem? • We load files with tapes & ftp • We build specialized gateways • We invest in expensive client/server implementations • Generally….. It’s a mess, it’s inconsistent, and it can be unreliable

  6. How does it work? • We use the features of the Oracle engine • We use database drivers that come from the DB manufacturers (typically JDBC & ODBC) • We encapsulate the driver and turn the remote database into an extension of Oracle • Access is Real-Time and Immediate

  7. Demonstration

  8. But where is the data? • It actually remains on the source platform • Periscope creates a virtual link to the data source • Periscope transforms the data as you access it, so it looks & feels like Oracle • And it’s fast, with very little overhead on a SQL statement

  9. Looks & Feels like an Oracle database • Periscope is Transparent • Looks and feels like an Oracle table • Applications won’t know it’s not in Oracle

  10. Configured Easily from your Browser
