  4. Oracle Migration • FirstSearch • Final testing has begun, should be in production within the next few months. • For the most part it should be transparent to end-users • FRBR data model

Oracle Migration • Cataloging • All supporting DB’s are migrated • Resource Catalog (RC),Savefile,Authorities,Dewey • Currently completing the requirements for WorldCat • Will be built off of the FirstSearch implementation • Database synchronization is a huge concern • Goal is to have this all completed by July 2005

  6. Oracle Migration • CJK Impact • Phase one • Initially release new CJK software that will search and update the new version of WorldCat • First cut will maintain same indexes and search keys that are supported today. • Phase Two • Implement new indexes and more robust searching capabilities

CJK Cataloging Module • Local Constant Data (CD) • Support for CJK script in constant data name and My Status • Streamlined process – fewer keystrokes than today’s software • Apply CD by typing the name • Selecting CD record from a list • Setting as default and applying the default • No plans to support CJK for online CD

  15. CJK Cataloging Module • Save files • Local save file will include more extensive CJK indexes • Online save file will continue to support CJK script • Ability to import records created in your local system
