The Impact of Music on Plant Growth: A Sunflower Experiment

This research investigates whether music influences the growth of plants, specifically sunflowers. Conducted by Ariel Cook, Breonna Johnson, Toneisha Pearson, and Phillis Troupe, the hypothesis was that music would enhance plant growth. We planted sunflower seeds in separate containers, exposed one to rhythm and blues, and the other to rock 'n' roll, providing equal water and soil. After four weeks, the data showed that the plant exposed to music grew more vigorously, leading us to conclude that sound has a positive effect on plant growth.

  15. Conclusion After 4 weeks of harvesting Plant Two grew more than Plant One. Our group came up with the analysis that Plant One had less water than Plant Two which caused it to grow more rapidly. Plant one only lived from the moisture in its soil.
