  2. Remember adverbs? They describe verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs. They answer the questions: • How • When • Where • To what extent

  3. Like a prepositional phrase can work as an adjective, it can also work as an adverb. Remember, a prepositional phrase is a group of words containing a preposition, its object, and any modifiers of the object. A prepositional phrase that works as an adverb is called an adverb phrase.

  4. Adverb phrases answer the questions: • How • When • Where And modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs.

  5. Sue ran toward the lake. Ted was eagerfor the race. Melanie swims earlyin the morning. Hint: Label the subject and verb FIRST!
