  2. How do you properly measure something? • Use a measuring instrument to determine a number. • The last digit of your number is always estimated. • A proper significant figure included all digits as read from the instrument plus one doubtful digit.

  4. International System of Units (SI Units) • Standard system of measurement used in science • Examples: • kilogram, centimeter, kilometer, liter, milligram, millimeter, milliliter, degrees Celsius

  5. Prefixes • Kilo – 1,000 • Centi – 1/100 • Milli – 1/1000
