  3. Something to Wonder About • Sponges are used to soak up spills, and I’m wondering just how much they can soak up compared to how much the sponge itself weighs. • In other words, I would like to compare the mass of the sponge to the mass of the water it can pick up. SMI2P3

  4. Task • How could you find out how much water this dry sponge can soak up? • Talk in your groups and plan how to use the balance to answer the question. • Recorders are to record the plan on a piece of paper. Getters give each person a piece of white scrap paper. SMI2P3
