  3. Why did Jonah Turn Away? Jonah wanted the Ninevites destroyed… Jonah wanted to save face? Jonah had trouble with the Gospel?

  4. JONAH CALLED TO “ARISE!”CHOOSES TO GO DOWN v. 3…. Down to Joppa v. 3…. Down onto the ship’s deck v. 5… Down into the “hold” v. 5… Lies “down” v. 15…Thrown “down” into the sea v. 17…Down into a fishes belly

  5. Consequences of Jonah going down: 1. God RELENTLESSY pursues. 2. Others can be hurt (storm). 3. Refusal to repent is deadly.

  6. God’s Grace in Jonah 1 Jonah is stopped from going down The storm IS stilled The pagans believe The fish RESCUES God’s purpose will be fulfilled. The issue is not the issue….

  7. TURNING FROM GODWE SPIRAL DOWN Sin ALWAYS separates Down and away from God Down and away from community Down and away from friends Down and away from family Down and away from who we are

  8. TURNING FROM GODHAS CONSEQUENCES God will pursue Others will get hurt Can lead to our spiritual death

  9. God’s Grace in our life We are stopped by His law The storms of life are stilled People may see and believe The Christ (IXTHUS) RESCUES God’s purpose will be fulfilled The issue is not the issue….
