Streamlined approach to financing projects and mobilising investment • €24m Multi-Donor Fund (Japan, UK, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Finland, Ireland, Sweden and Taipei China) The EBRD’s ETC Initiative New EBRD initiative (launched early 2004) Support private sector development in the Early Transition Countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Tajikistan & Uzbekistan) • €4.2m allocated from ETCI Fund to TAM/BAS operations in the region
What BAS is offering? • Cooperation in selecting the most suitable local consultants to solve specific business problems and to carry out particular consulting assignments. • Capacity to pair foreign consultants with Moldovan experts if the local expertise to meet the particular needs of an enterprise is not sufficient. • A Grant of up to 50% of the total net project cost (maximum € 10,000) It is a complimentary instrument to the existing financial services !
Clients profile and assistance requested in RM Special attention – business in rural areas, agro-processing, agro-tourism ! • More than half of our clients employ less than 50 persons • 30% of our clients are involved in agriculture related sphere • 47% are regional or rural projects Type of assistance in agriculture related spheres: • engineering studies for production gasification • Quality Standard introduction and certification • Diversification of production through elaboration and production of the new product (low alcohol product based on the wine); • Marketing research and product promotion on the market
Project name: Plantation technology improvement and selection of the table grape stocks Company • producer vine saplings resistant to diseases and frosts; • saplings production had only 35% output, while western producers have 85% Advise required from BAS • up-to-date technological consultancy in order to increase output • diversify the product range, including table grapes Outcome • Technology implementation, allowing immediate production cost decrease of 25% and increasing productivity of wine sapling production (from 35% to 85%) • Establishment of the “Test vineyard” for quality control, experiments and marketing purposes • Establishment of the quality control procedures • Import and successful multiplication of the table grapes vine seedlings
