  14. OTHER CENTER FOR THE BOOK PROGRAMMING • Letters About Literature • “Ernest J. Gaines and His Louisiana Obsession” • “Just Listen to Yourself” • 2011 Louisiana Writer Award announced

  15. SPECIAL SERVICESFACES OLD AND NEW • New Name • SBPH to TBBL (Talking Books and Braille Library). The emphasis of the name is on the services provided and not on the people served. • Digital books account for almost half of overall TBBL circulation; and, • BARD accounts for 10% of circulation.

  17. EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP GRANT • Executive Leadership Training for Louisiana Public Librarians • Completed Phase 4, Evaluation, in April • Received grant extension from IMLS • Will repeat eight workshops from August 2011 to June 2012

  18. COLLABORATIVE SUMMER READING PROGRAM • Children – Dream Big • Teens – Own the Night • Adults - Between the Covers • 89,548 children and teens participated. • Almost 317,549 attended related programs.

  22. LOUISIANA YOUNG READERS' CHOICE AWARD 28,000 students voted in 2011 for their favorite book. This year's participants read more than 80,000 books.

  24. LOUISIANA TEEN READERS' CHOICE AWARD 2012 • This is the new high school component for students in grades 9-12. • The State Library has a dedicated web site especially for teens. The site has summaries, guides and videos of the nominees: http://www.state.lib.la.us/ltrc2012/ . • First ballots will be cast February 2012.

  27. TRAINING • Most classes in public libraries • 1,925 sessions through June • 10,200 students trained through June • Overall satisfaction rate is very high – hovers about 4.8 -4.9 on a 5-point scale • Training presented or scheduled in 62 of the 64 parishes.

  29. Equipment • 10 laptops per parish; • 1 accessible workstation per parish with JAWS and MAGIC software installed; • 1 CCTV reader per parish; • 277 licenses for MAGIC for branches; and, • 1 wireless router for each library building.
