  14. Recruitment Applicants with completely verified skills passport will be able to start employment far quicker then those requiring complex and/or extensive pre-employment checks.   19. Evaluation Move from attendance to achievement important for learner self esteem. Reduction in repetition of skills training seen positively by learners. Learners expressed a preference for electronic, verified core skills recording as they felt it was more valuable but liked certificates “as a backup”. Learners valued training that would be transferable between health care areas. Actual sessions and Assessment used in the pilot evaluated well by students. Favourite method was use of a hand console for “voting”

  20. Lessons Learned When Students have to create their own electronic profile (Skills Passport), there is a poor uptake of profile creation and maintenance. This improves markedly with automatic creation of the electronic record and verified data. Bulk upload of verified core skills data is best achieved as a single package at the end of a programme (such as a non credit module) Individual upload of skills is more time consuming than bulk upload but is useful for “ongoing” skills recording during a programme The core skills can be built into a programme structure to ensure appropriate competence at increasing stages of learning.
