Future Projects in Progress (Hong Kong) Tseung Kwan O Extension (Phase 2) Kowloon Southern Link Future project: West Island Line & South Island Line (East) Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link Shatin to Central Link & Kwun Tong Line Extension
Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link • It is a proposed express railway connecting Guangzhou, Dongguan, and Shenzhen of Guangdong Province and Hong Kong SAR.
West Island Line 4 stations: Kennedy Town University Sai Ying Pun Sheung Wan -extension to Island Line, and would run from Sheung Wan to Kennedy Town.
consists of two sections: South Island Line This plan begins to work in 2009, complete in 2013 /2014.

Northern line 北環線 -6 stations from Kam Sheung Road to Lok Ma Chau
Advantages: Traffic Aspect: -increase accessibility *attract more people to live in new town in the future provide better living enviornment --- solve the urban problems -Provide more comfortable, faster, safe transport -shorten the traffic time
Better living environment ----Reduce the cost and time for citizens to travel form living place and working place everyday/ • The cars on the road will decreaseLess air / noise polution Less traffic accidents • -Reduce the traffic congestion problem in HK Island (eg. Cuauseway bay/ Central)

Disadvantages: - Costly (eg. Lok Ma Chau Railway is a good example)increase government financial burden -Northern line built in new territories may cause less land for farming/ destroy the ecosystem/ biodiversity
