  2. Other Elements in Living Organisms • A single cell in your body contains a large number of organic compounds. • Other elements combine with carbon to make a variety of compounds on which living things depend.

  3. ELEMENTS IN ORGANIC COMPOUNDS • Some other elements beside carbon include: • Oxygen & hydrogen: water has both of these in it, and you have a lot of water in your body.

  4. Other Important Elements • Sulfur and nitrogen:These are important parts ofproteins. • Phosphorus:This element allows your cells to get the energythey need. Sulfur & nitrogen deficiency Phosphorus deficiency

  5. Organic Compounds- Not Just From Living Things • Organic compounds make up living things. • Organic compounds can be manufactured for medicines and drugs. • They are the same ones you find in your food.
