  1. PLASMA DONATION – SIMPLIFYING THE STRUGGLES While India continues to witness a massive number of Covid cases, crossing over 4 lacs infections in a day, people are faced with a new struggle. That of finding plasma for critical recipients. Plasma therapy has been used to revive critical recipients in the case of Covid. It’s a treatment in which the blood of the recovered recipient is taken, from which plasma is then separated which contains antibodies developed by the donor’s body. This helps develop antibodies in the body of the infected person, who can then fight the virus better. While the process is simple and safe, the real challenge is to find and connect with plasma donors. It is proving to be a real struggle for many people at a critical time when there are lives at stake. Why is finding donors so difficult? The truth is that while lakhs are getting infected, a large fraction of these recipients are also recovering each day. Given the number of recovered recipients, the demand for plasma can be easily met even if a very small percentage of recovered people donate their plasma. Where does the problem lie? Some problems people face are: vLack of a proper platform for recipients and donors to find each other. vDifficult to find donors in nearby area that match the requirements of the recipients. vLeads that people find through social media cannot be trusted. vUnverified leads or contact details missing. vWastage of critical time in contacting wrong leads.

  2. How can we solve this problem? Many individuals and organisations have been trying to create a bridge between donors and recipients. However, most of it is unregulated and hence can get complicated. United by Blood is an initiative that seeks to solve this problem by creating a platform that connects the donors directly with the recipients, simplifying the entire process, removing roadblocks and helping save critical time which can save many lives. The objective of the initiative is to create the largest depository of plasma for recipients and a COVID19 Plasma Donors Bank, so that no lives are lost in the search for plasma. It also makes donating plasma extremely simple so that anyone who wishes to donate and save lives can do it. Finding or donating plasma on the platform is a very simple process.

  3. If you’re looking for plasma, you can register as a plasma recipient and find the nearest plasma donors filtered on the basis of their location, blood group & date of recovery. The next step is to connect with plasma donors who meet your criteria basis your requirements, discuss the case with them and guide them to the hospital the recipient is admitted to. If you wish to donate, register as a plasma donor and be found by recipients whose requirements match your blood type. You’ll be contacted by them and guided to the hospital or a blood bank near you. An extremely user-friendly platform and a two step process makes it very easy for anyone to use. With United By Blood now you can find plasma donors in your city, without going through a tough time. At a time of crisis like this, ‘United By Blood’ helps give us a platform to play a role in our nation’s fight against Covid 19. It reminds us to look beyond our divisions of region, caste, colour or religion and be united for humanity. It’s a mission that believes in peace, harmony, a sense of community & collective responsibility.
