How To Use Winter Tyres

There are different types of tyres you might consider using on the road if you are planning to buy a car. They include winter tyres, all season tyres and summer tyres. Our focus in this particular article is on the winter tyres, which are also referred to as cold weather tyres. They are made from a softer compound that makes them soft enough to provide good grip when you are driving in temperatures that are below 7 degrees Celsius. However, when the temperatures drop below 7 degrees Celsius, the winter tyres become less useful. They cannot provide enough grip. What you will need in that case are studded snow tyres. <br>

  2. How To Use Winter Tyres • There are different types of tyres you might consider using on the road if you are planning to buy a car.

  3. How To Use Winter Tyres • Regardless of the type of vehicle you are driving, winter tyres can still be able to work well with it. If you normally face slippery conditions when you are going to work very early in the morning in winter, these tyres can be a smart investment. They can be a lifesaver regardless of the weather. Even the police can fit the winter tyres on their rapid response vehicles and have an easy time when driving in icy conditions. Their stopping distance on snowy and icy roads is very good compared to their all season counterparts.

  4. How To Use Winter Tyres • If you have never installed winter tyres before, you may be wondering how to change over to them.  It is a straightforward process that would not give you problems at all. If you have ever changed a normal tyre in the past, it is basically the same thing you would need to do with a winter tyre change. You can choose to either use the same wheels you have for the new tyres or buy different wheels for them. Buying completely separate wheels for the winter tyres will be a good idea because you will simply need to jack your car up and change the wheels themselves.

  5. How To Use Winter Tyres • The best thing to do when changing over to winter tyres is change all the four tyres at once. Having two summer tyres and two winter tyres on your car is not a good idea at all. When you are driving a car that has this combination of tyres in snowy or icy conditions, the different tyres as well as grip levels will have a negative effect on the handling of the car. Also make sure that you source the tyres from a reputable dealer.

  6. How To Use Winter Tyres • Since you will only need to use the winter tyres during the winter season, you need to know the right way to store them. When the winter season comes to an end, you should put them in special tyre bags in order to protect them from UV decay. Make sure that the tyres are stored off the ground. A wooden pallet or a shelf will be a great place to store these tyres. You should do the same for summer tyres during winter to make sure that they will be in good condition when you need to use them later on.
