The strong lines of the palace's various reserves are offset by exquisite canopies and delicate trellis work, the entire structure conveys an impression of extraordinary opulence. The Raj Mahal Palace, built in the 17th century by Madhukar Shah, the predecessor of Bir Singh Joo Dev, has an almost entirely unknown exterior, relieved by a series of windows and projected umbrellas. These plain exterior avenues give way to an interior with beautiful murals, brightly colored walls and ceilings on a variety of religious themes bring to life. The banks of the Betwa River are located with 14 cenotaphs (temples built as memorials) of various Bundela kings.

  3. Ram Raja Mandir is a large square temple with a simple exterior color of pink and yellow. It is the only temple where Rama is revered as a king. Other historical temples in Orchha include the Chaturbhuj Temple and the Laxminarayan Temple. The interior of the Chaturbhuj temple is perfectly flat, while the Laxminarayan temple is decorated with bright murals.
