Literature & Fiction for Children

  1. Literature & Fiction for Children Literature & Fiction are a term that seems to have lost all meaning to the children of our generation. I remember when I was a child my mother would often say to me that the television had more stories on it than any magazine and that there was hardly any left that the kids would like. I guess I grew up reading lots of stories as a child and I enjoyed reading as a child but it has become a part of me that literature is not allowed in the home unless it is for children's books or literature of a non-educational nature. In fact, most of the great novelists who are popular with the public have had books produced that are meant for the adult market, not children's books. The public school system in America is so bogged down with what they consider "ervatives" that they insist that all education programs taught by the public schools to be just like them - liberal, limited government, and supportive of the "inward" society, with all of its problems. And this is why so many of the children of our day are being conditioned to accept the conservative worldview. https://www.amazon.com/dp/1500935158 is almost entirely removed from the educational curriculum. Even when it is required reading in school, it is usually a very politically correct form of literature and is written by people who are quite liberal themselves. I am not sure how much the public education system actually benefits from reading the works of literature.Children's literature & fiction are one of the few areas in the curriculum where the public schools are required to teach something that is required for all children learning to learn and grow. It is an essential element of the educational process. Without it children will grow up not knowing any of the stories they are reading. They will miss out on the richness of life and the experience of learning. I think the best way to encourage children to read is to give them something they like to read about - a story, a novel, non-fiction book about something real. As for literature & fiction, it is much better than mandatory government imposed politically correct literature that teaches nothing but politically correct values.
