  1. Microsoft Excel Keyboard Shortcuts Microsoft Excel is a handy tool for organizing and analyzing data. Whether you're working in a big company or just managing personal finances, Excel comes in handy. But sometimes it can seem complicated, especially if you're trying to do detailed stuff with formulas. That's where shortcuts come in. Learning these can make your work much faster and easier. For example, did you know that pressing Ctrl+Home together will take you straight to the first cell of your Excel sheet? It's little tricks like these that can save you a lot of time and effort. So, we've gathered a bunch of shortcuts for you to learn. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced user, knowing these shortcuts will make you more productive. And just to make things clear, when we say "Ctrl" or "Alt," we mean those keys on the bottom left and right of your keyboard. And when we say "press simultaneously," it just means press both keys at the same time. Workbook Management Keyboard Shortcut Action Ctrl + N Creates a new workbook. Ctrl + O Opens an existing workbook. Ctrl + S Saves the active workbook. F12 Saves the active workbook under a new name and displays the Save As dialog box. Ctrl + W Closes the active workbook. Clipboard Operations Keyboard Shortcut Action Ctrl + C Copies the contents of the selected cells to the clipboard. Ctrl + X Cut the contents of the selected cells to the clipboard.

  2. Ctrl + V Inserts the contents of the clipboard into the selected cell. Undo/Redo Operations Keyboard Shortcut Action Ctrl + Z Undo your last action. Ctrl + Y Redo your last action. Printing Keyboard Shortcut Action Ctrl + P Opens the “Print” dialog. Formatting Data Keyboard Shortcut Action Ctrl + 1 Opens the “Format Cells” dialog. Ctrl + T Converts selected cells to a table. Working with Formulas Keyboard Shortcut Action F4 Cycles through various combinations of formula reference types. Ctrl + ` Toggles between displaying cell values and formulas. Ctrl + ‘ Insert the formula of the above cell into the currently selected cell or the Formula Bar.

  3. Navigating and Viewing Data Keyboard Shortcut Action Ctrl + F1 Shows or hides the Excel Ribbon. Ctrl + Tab Switches to the next open Excel workbook. Ctrl + PgDown Switch to the next worksheet. Ctrl + G Opens the “Go to” dialog. On pressing F5, it displays the same dialog. Ctrl + F Displays the “Find” dialog box. Home Returns to the 1st cell of the current row in a worksheet. Ctrl + Home Moves to the beginning of a worksheet (A1 cell). Ctrl + End Moves to the last used cell of the current worksheet, i.e. the lowest row of the rightmost column. Entering Data Keyboard Shortcut Action F2 Edits the current cell. Alt + Enter In cell editing mode, it enters a new line into a cell. Ctrl + ; It automatically enters the current date. Ctrl + Shift +; It automatically enters the current time. Ctrl + Enter Fills the selected cells with the contents of the current cell.

  4. Ctrl + D Copies the contents and format of the first cell in the selected range into the cells below. Ctrl + Shift + V Open a “Paste Special” dialog when the clipboard is not empty. Selecting Data Keyboard Shortcut Action Ctrl + A Select the entire worksheet. Ctrl + Home then Ctrl + Shift + End It selects the entire range of your actual user data on the current worksheet.
