  2. SS Rajamouli, the acclaimed filmmaker known for his action movies “Eega“, “Magadheera” and the much celebrated hits like “Baahubali” and “RRR,” revealed his interest in venturing into the world of animation films. At a press conference for his latest project, “Baahubali: Crown of Blood,” Rajamouli expressed his longstanding desire to create an animated feature. He sees animation as a means to explore new creative territories. Collaborating with Disney+ Hotstar for the upcoming series, Rajamouli aims to leverage such projects to enhance his filmmaking skills. The “Baahubali: Crown of Blood” series acts as a prequel to Rajamouli’s iconic “Baahubali” movies, which captivated audiences worldwide with their epic storytelling. Rajamouli, a self-professed fan of animated classics like “The Lion King” and “Aladdin,” believes there’s a substantial audience in India for animation films. However, he notes that Indian animation content often caters exclusively to children, unlike the diverse offerings seen in the US and Japanese anime films.

  3. The filmmaker started the franchise with 2015’s “Baahubali: The Beginning”, which starred Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Sathyaraj and Tamannaah Bhatia. The movie broke many records with its box office collection, emerging as the first South Indian film to gross over Rs 650 crore worldwide. It was followed by the second part, titled “Baahubali: The Conclusion” and released in 2017. Despite initial reservations, Rajamouli entrusted the animation adaptation of his beloved franchise to Sharad Devarajan. He guided the new team through the sur(note) of “Baahubali,” that resonated with audiences to ensure a seamless transition to the animated format.

  4. Rajamouli also emphasized the importance of innovative marketing strategies. They spent “zero budget” on the marketing of the first part of “Baahubali”. They didn’t buy any spots, pay any newspapers or websites to put up the posters. They created many videos and digital posters internally and released the making (behind-the-scenes) videos. A lot of publicity happened without spending any money. He added that each film is different and marketing it depends on product to product, but the base is that they constantly strived to bring in new audiences to get interested in the product A Graphic India and Arka Mediaworks production, “Baahubali: Crown of Blood” is backed by Rajamouli, Devarajan and “Baahubali” films producer Shobu Yarlagadda. It is directed by Jeevan J Kang and Navin John. It will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on May 17. Drawing on the success of the “Bahubali” film series, the team aims to transport viewers into an exciting and mysterious universe.
