  1. Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan Chennaiin co-operation with LV Prasad Film & TV Academy presents EYE to EYE: All about German film (Film with discussion) On 12th June 2009 , 4.30 to 6.30 pm at LV Prasad Film & TV Academy No 28, Arunachalam Road, Saligramam, Chennai A film about the cinema, a discovery through one hundred years of German film, which shows us that all which seems so far away, is in reality so close. EYE TO EYE, a documentary by Michael Althen and Hans Helmut Prinzler, charts the great moments of German cinema history. Acclaimed German filmmakers such as Caroline Link, Doris Dörrie, Michael Ballhaus, Tom Tykwer, Wim Wenders, Dominik Graf, Christian Petzold, Andreas Dresen, Wolfgang Kohlhaase and Hanns Zischler, use film extracts to illustrate to us the films that have been particularly important to them; they investigate the essence of German film. Thus, layer by layer, the film uncovers what so often has obscured our view of German film history. The screening of the film will be followed by a discussion by Indian film maker R.S.Prasanna, who recently visited the Berlin Film Festival „Berlinale“ and the director of the Goethe-Institut Barbara Viehmann.
