Simply put, it enables a person to regulate or to have better control over their emotions as well as empathize with the emotions of the people around them. Inevitably, one cannot be expected to retain a calm and collected mind when dealing with difficult people or complex circumstances. This is where a person with good emotional intelligence has the upper hand. She has better control over the situation and can resolve issues or disputes calmly and more professionally. Although intelligence drives the nature and the core competencies of the work done by an individual, the emotions determine how the work gets done as well as the quality of the work done. Inculcated in children, it will help them have better social relationships as well as go through life breezily.
