In-Stat, expects 120 million ZigBee chipsets will be sold in 2011, used mostly in a combination of routers, end points and gateways.

There will be 120 million ZigBee devices by 2010.

Most analysts are predicting significant growth for ZigBee silicon. A mid-range estimate is that this market will be worth a billion dollars between 2008 and 2010.

Smart Energy & Home Automation

ZigBee technology can be used to produce effectively proprietary solutions to applications or to produce products that are compatible or interoperable with other like products in the market place.

To carry the ZigBee logo and be fully interoperable you need to base your application on a public profile. On the ZigBee PRO feature set a number of Public Profiles will be available. These already include the Smart Energy and Home Automation profiles.

  • This data is stored on site and sent via landline to a server where the data is backed up and used to update a website where all the kitchens in the chain can be continuously monitored

  • Cold Chain temperature monitoring:
  • Sensors are installed in the refrigerated trailers for temperature controlled haulage
  • Temperature data and trailer identity are transmitted to the tractor unit where GPRS technology relays cargo temperature, engine management data, and GPS location to a web server
  • Goods accepted or rejected before the trailer doors are opened saving valuable time and increasing confidence in cold chain integrity

  • By creating a powered backbone of Full Function ZigBee devices along hotel corridors a stable mesh network is created
  • Reduced Function devices are attached to the keypads of the safes in each hotel bedroom

water metering project in the apartment blocks of Moscow

Russia has a very different supply model to the rest of Europe. Hot water is made in factories all over Moscow - then pumped under the streets into the apartments

Previously offered as a free service by Government there was no need for a domestic metering infrastructure
