  2. Internet Potencial in Spanish Language • Spanish is the 3rd most used language in the Internet (after English and Chinese). • There are 113 million Spanish speaking Internet users: 9% worldwide. • Since 2000, it has grown 360% Source: Internet World Stats

  3. Presence or absence? • Internet has become a business model based on search engines. In Spain Google has a 98% market share. • Business with no online presence are becoming invisible due to not being able to be searched for. • However, only 12.2% of Spanish companies have a website (*). • Only 9.8% of Spanish companies with more than 10 employees and 2.2% of companies with less than 10 employees sale over the Internet (*). Online presence is a first step unavoidable to access the market. (*) ONTSI from INE 2007 database

  4. Internet in Spain: Penetration Index • Spain is ranked 15th worldwide in Internet penetration with just under 51% of the total population. This percentage is under EU average (60%). • Over 75% of Internet users get online from home. • The Internet usage time is spread mostly among searching, and emailing. • Social networking is the fastest growing activitiy online, Source: Comunicaciones World / Tatum / EGM

  5. eCommerce in Spain • Spanish market has 20 million potential online buyers nationwide. • 2008 B2C revenue is expected to have been 6.400 € million, a 42% increase from 2007 (up from 4.500 € million). • 49.6% of internet users have bought something online in 2008.   7. eCommerce in Latinamerica Emerging Markets • Latin America is a geographic area with lots of potential. • Latin America has 8% of the planet Internet users. However, it accounts only for 3% of Internet buyers (only 15% buy on the Internet). • There is only a significant market in Brazil, Mexico and Argentina.
